Full Spectrum Music Giveaway
My Full Spectrum Music Giveaway is your chance to win 22 CDs!
To celebrate the release of my new CD, Oog on May 12th, I am giving away autographed copies of my two solo CDs plus twenty CDs that I have played on — from artists like Steve Earle, Darrell Scott, Tim O’Brien, Béla Fleck, Abigail Washburn & The Sparrow Quartet and others.
Simply leave a comment at the end of this post to enter before midnight CDT on May 20, 2009. Ten runner-up winners will receive autographed copies of Oog and 3D.
Over the past three years since recording 3D, I’ve been busy recording and touring with the above named folks, my drums/bass/fiddle power trio I call The Colorfools, and squeezing in time writing and preparing to record this new album. On Oog, I’ve invited a core of feared fearless tone adventurers: Matt Chamberlain (drums, percussion, electronic mangulation, fiddlesticks), Viktor Krauss (basses), Darrell Scott (electric guitars and pedal steel guitar), and Jason Lehning (co-producer and engineer). Well respected and well recorded in their own right, Oog marks the first occasion for us five to be together — for all of one rehearsal and three days in the studio. On select tracks, Fognode adds splashes of nuance with his combination of lap steel, synth and field recordings.
I’m excited about this new record and hope you’ll find a soundtrack or two to your daily happenings.
So here’s what the Grand Prize winner gets… Autographed copies of 3D and Oog, plus CDs from Abigail Washburn & the Sparrow Quartet, Béla Fleck, David Peterson & 1946, Tim O’Brien, Blue Merle, John Mayer, John Doyle, Steve Earle, Darol Anger, Darrell Scott, Jayme Stone & Mansa Sissoko, Frank Vignola, Robbie Fulks, Crooked Still, Mark Schatz, Judith Edelman, Hanneke Cassel, Wisechild, Disney’s The Fox & The Hound Soundtrack.
Thanks for entering! And now that you’re done, be sure to check out my MySpace to hear tracks off the new record.
Please feel free to spread the word and post about this on Facebook and Twitter.
Enjoy music,
casey

May 10th, 2009 at 10:30 pm
Wow .. The Power Trio struck again in J.C. TN @ The Down Home aka “the living room”. Again I was taken on a musical journey that leaves me yaking to anyone who will listen. CD & the Colorfools were once again the best live performance i've seen…. Aside from their fashion ( polka dots..red shoes.. lime green shirt.. plaid pants)These guys create their own lighting , pyrotechnics, and smoke with their instruments !!!!! Oog has snake charming qualities that leave you mesmerized !! Thanks Casey, Tom, Matt & other feared fearless tone adventurers..
May 11th, 2009 at 10:51 am
I just heard some tracks of your new CD on WRUW here in Cleveland – great stuff!

Casey- Both of your cds are awesome. It's a great new beat that has inspired me with my fiddle playing. Kudos to you for stepping outside the norm and doing your own thing. You're paving the way for future musicians! Keep up the great music! :)
May 13th, 2009 at 12:24 am
Mr. Driessen,
Hmmmmm, how can I put this? Let's see: if there is a fad or an “in” style for fiddle at Belmont University right now, it's definitely you. And I'm not much on popular trends, but I've got to admit that I'm right there with the rest of the fiddler players who are way into your music. Love your stuff — it blows my mind. I hope you have tons and tons of success with your latest project!!!
May 13th, 2009 at 12:35 am
We never get enough performers or CDs up here in Alaska, so I'm looking forward to winning! So when are you coming up to Fairbanks to play? We'd love to have you!

3D is astounding. It should be figured into the whole economic stimulus situation – anyone in their right mind should own a copy. Or two. I can only imagine that Oog will be obligatory as well!

My wife and I had the honor of being introduced to the work of Casey and the Colorfools at the Grey Eagle in Asheville, NC last night, where he opened and then was asked to sit in with the Asylum Street Spankers. It seems that sometimes life shows you the most beautiful things when and where you least expect it. So is the case with Casey and his clan. We're now fans for life.

I'd love to win this fiddlin' festival of music! Great playin'! When I first heard you play I said “Oog” which everyone knows is the sound that comes out just prior to “Ooh” which of course is the international sound of amazement! And “Oog” is the best place to start, because just prior to that is “Oof” which is the international sound of mistake. Thanks!

Great stuff, Casey! I am going this year to Haapavesi folk again. It would be great that you could come too again. It was great meeting you then back in 2000.

Casey the last time I saw you was when you were 12 years old or so at frontier ranch in Columbus, Ohio. I was jamming with you and you could flat play that Sally Goodin. I got to jam with your dad at Hoover Y Park and he told me you were huge famous now. So I looked you up on the web. You have become amazing on the fiddle. I guess hard work pays off. Keep on fiddling ,Bud!

That Sore Fingers Concert back in April was simply one of the most amazing events I have EVER witnessed. Rock on, Casey!!

Your music unites the innovative with the traditional, and I think you're one of the best fiddlers around. I'm really thankful for what you do, and you're definitely an inspiration to me as a player. I'll no doubt get your new CD one way or another. Having an autographed copy would be a genuine honor, though!

I made a wise purchase of two pairs of your favorite snow goggles at the Blue Plum (Johnson CIty) Festival show a couple of years ago…so…what do they mean to me today? I wear them while “Gator'n” on our farm in northwestern SC and they are purely perfect! They are protective of tree branches and limbs coming at you, prevent wind drying of contact lenses (finally!), and enhance the clarity of vision. They are soft and comfortable. They stay put. As if your wonderful, incredible music weren't enough —you are easy on the eyes!! Thank you!
