#3 Silakowski

Made in 1995 by John Silakowski, this fiddle was my first 5-string (hi-lo: eadgc). The body design is based on a Guaneri violin. The top is made of Alaskan Sitka Spruce and the back and sides of Tennessee Red Maple. The finish is of the spirit/varnish type. The label reads “1995 No. 1003,” meaning it is Silakowski’s 31st fiddle. Of his 5-strings, it’s #3.
