For the first half of December, we called the remote peninsula of Knoydart our home.
During the first two weeks of December, we would occasionally venture off the Knoydart peninsula and visit the "mainland" around Arisaig.
For our final two weeks in Ireland, we headed south from Galway along the western coastline. Nights spent in Doolin, Dingle, and Cork...with a few other stops along the way.
Headed out on a ferry for a day trip to the Aran Islands, off the coast of Galway. Spent the day riding bikes around the island, marvelling at the landscape, seeing a prehistoric fort, and checking out seals.
Leaving our home base in Galway for a few days, I took a weekend trip down to the Ennis Trad Fest. Days and nights were filled roaming the streets for sessions. Over meals, I read up on my family history and learned that some of my Irish peoples come from this area.
Memories snapped during the first 3 weeks of our travels in Ireland. Landing in Dublin; spending a night in Horseleap; ending up in Knockferry (25min NW of Galway city)...with a bit of riding through the Connemara countryside.
Couldn't leave the Iberian Peninsula after 4.5 years without visiting Portugal...took the train south from Vigo, transferred in Porto, and ended up in Lisbon for a week and a half of exploration (with side trip to Sintra). I spent the first half of every day editing my Spain audio/video music collaborations and got out in the city for the afternoon/evening.
After two weeks in Sevilla, we drove north (stopping for jamón in Extremadura) and called Galica home for two final weeks in Spain. We spent 1 week in Cangas (across the water from Vigo) and 1 week in the Ponte Caldelas countryside.
